Canvas totes that survive the second use.
8 to 16 oz cotton canvas, reinforced handles, and a seam spec that matches the load. WWTop Yupoo is useful for shape and proportion; we translate the reference into a tested canvas bag, not a branded leather copy.
Fabric weights and MOQs are planning ranges. The exact canvas, handle, and test method are confirmed in writing.
Catalogue lens
The bag photo hides the load case.
Most of the WWTop bag catalogue is leather, monogram, or structured fashion. Our production scope is different: cotton canvas, a defined load, and a handle attachment that can be tested. Use the catalogue for proportion and detail placement, not for brand-identifiable copies.
Canvas is the product, not a substitute
An 8 oz promotional bag and a 16 oz daily-carry tote need different seams, needle sizes, and handle reinforcement. The canvas grade follows the load, not the photo.
The attachment carries the bag
Box-X stitching, bartacks, and a handle that extends into the body are not interchangeable. We specify stitch type, stitch count, extension length, and a pull-test level.
Design the print around the seam
A print that crosses a gusset or handle seam can crack or distort. Send the artwork size, placement, and colour count before the panel is cut.
We do not produce branded, monogrammed, or counterfeit bags. Reference images from the catalogue are used to discuss generic shape and proportion; the final product must be an original canvas design under your label.

The bag is only as strong as its weakest attachment.
A heavier canvas does not fix a weak handle. Load testing and attachment design decide whether the bag is reusable or disposable.
8 oz calico
Light and foldable. Best for packaging, events, and low-load retail.
12 oz canvas
The retail workhorse. A good balance of structure, print surface, and cost.
16 oz canvas
Structured and heavy. Confirm seam bulk, needle size, and handle reinforcement.
Scroll the table sideways if needed.
| Weight | Canvas type | Typical use | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 oz | Light canvas / calico | Promotional, retail packaging, light shopping | Check seam strength at the handle |
| 10–12 oz | Midweight canvas | Reusable shopping, brand merch, events | The most common retail band |
| 14 oz | Heavy canvas | Premium retail, books, daily carry | Check foldability and print opacity |
| 16 oz | Structured canvas | Tools, hardware, heavy loads | Confirm needle size and seam bulk |
Construction
Four places a tote fails.
Most tote complaints are not about the canvas. They are about the handle attachment, the base seam, the print cracking, or a size that does not match the stated capacity.
- Handle attachment: box-X stitch or bartack, with the handle extended into the body for heavy loads.
- Top hem: folded and stitched to the specified depth, with the handle captured cleanly.
- Base: flat or gusseted, with a seam that can carry the load without grinning.
- Print: ink, placement, cure, and a wash or abrasion test against the agreed standard.
If the bag is meant to carry bottles, books, or tools, say so. The load case determines the canvas, handle, and seam — not the other way round.
“Reinforced” is not a specification
Ask for the stitch type, stitch count, and the length of the handle extension. A photo of a box-X is not a test result.
Print and foldability
A large, heavy print can stiffen the panel and change how the bag folds. If foldability matters for retail packaging, include it in the sample review.
- Load test
- Agreed capacity
- Handle pull
- Written pass level
- Wash or abrasion
- Colour
- Rub fastness
Approval checks
What the sample has to prove.
A tote sample should be used, not just photographed. Put weight in it before you approve it.
Size and capacity
Finished width, height, gusset, handle drop, and the realistic load the bag is designed to carry.
Attachment and drop
Stitch type, extension length, bartack placement, and handle width against the load case.
Top hem and base
Seam allowance, fold depth, stitch density, and no loose threads or skipped stitches.
Placement and cure
Print size, position on the panel, opacity, edge definition, and adhesion after testing.
Weight and shrinkage
Measured weight, composition, and shrinkage after the agreed wash or steam process.
Fold and carton
Fold dimensions, polybag, hangtag, carton count, and whether the bag arrives flat or creased.

What to send
The load case comes before the artwork.
Tell us what the bag will carry. A tote for a candle and a tote for six bottles need different canvas, handles, and seam reinforcement, even if they look the same on a screen.
Include the finished dimensions, gusset, handle drop, print area, and any test the bag must pass. If you have a retail packing constraint, say that too.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask
If your question is not here, send a brief. We answer in plain language, with conditions.
Can you copy a leather tote I saw on WWTop Yupoo?
No. Our tote program is cotton canvas, calico, and recycled canvas, not branded leather goods or logo-identifiable copies. We can discuss a generic shape, handle drop, and load case, then build an original canvas bag under your label. A leather reference from the catalogue is not a production specification for this category.
What canvas weight is right for a tote bag?
An 8 oz canvas suits lightweight promotional and retail bags. 10–12 oz is the common middle ground for a reusable shopping tote. 14–16 oz gives a structured, heavy bag for premium retail or tool use. The handle, seam, and base construction matter as much as the weight.
What is the minimum order for custom tote bags?
Stock canvas bags may start around 100 pieces per colour. A custom size, custom-dyed canvas, or custom print usually starts around 250–500 pieces because cutting and printing set-up are amortised across the run. The quote states the minimum and the set-up costs separately.
How are handles attached?
Common options are single-needle stitching, box-X stitching, or bartack reinforcement, with handles turned under or extended into the bag. For heavy loads, the handle should continue down the body or be reinforced at the attachment point. The attachment method belongs in the specification, not in a photo.
Can you print on both sides?
Yes, but two-sided print changes the set-up, drying, and handling. It may also affect the minimum because the panels are printed before assembly. Specify the print size, placement, colour count, and whether the print must avoid the seam allowance.
What tests should a tote pass?
A load test at the intended capacity, a handle-attachment pull test, seam strength, colourfastness to rubbing, and a print adhesion wash or abrasion test where relevant. The exact test method and acceptance level are agreed in writing.
Are recycled or organic canvas options available?
Often, but claims need documents. Ask for the fibre certification, the transaction certificate covering your order, and the percentage of recycled or organic content. We do not repeat a “green” claim without the paperwork behind it.
Next step
A reusable bag needs a real load test.
Send the dimensions, canvas weight, handle type, print, quantity, and what the bag must carry. We will confirm what can be sampled and tested.
